Cervical Screening Clinic
Cervical screening has changed in Australia. The PAP test has been replaced with a new Cervical Screening Test (CST).
CST can either be collected by the doctor or a self collected swab in the doctors rooms can also be performed. The test is a simple procedure to check the health of your cervix.
- It feels the same as the PAP test, but tests for human papillomavirus (known as HPV).
- It is a screening test for cervical cancer. The screening programme starts from age 25- 74 yrs of age.
- Results are usually sent via a secure text message one week later, however if there are any abnormalities your doctor will call you to discuss. We utilise a recall system that will send you a letter for when you are next due for your CST.
- Please book an appointment when you are not menstruating as it can influence the results.
- If you are displaying symptoms such as unusual bleeding, discharge or pain, please make an appointment with your GP for further assessment.
For your convenience, once a month on a Saturday morning Dr Desi Psaromatis runs a CST screening clinic. For more information or to book an appointment, please call us on 8230 6900.
